The Australian Chapter of the International Association of Protective Structures

Announcement on The Australian Chapter of the International Association of Protective Structures (IAPS-AUS) was hosted by the University of New South Wales – Canberra on 23-24 November 2020

The conference brought together experts working in the field of protective structures. It also supports the International Conference on Protective Structures (ICPS) held every two years.

Gary Bullock, MD of Flexiroc Australia Pty Ltd and Vice President of Protectiflex LLC, presented a paper on blast testing programs performed in Australia on various forms of ProtectiFlex. Shock tube testing was conducted in the Advanced Blast Simulator (ABS) at the University of Wollongong – National Facility for Physical Blast Simulation (NFPBS) on pumped ProtectiFlex composite panel of ProtectiFlex and reinforced concrete as well as on a spray-on form (ProtectiFlex Shotcrete) applied to masonry walls.

With the proven superior performance of ProtectiFlex as blast protection, Flexiroc Australia and UOW are in the process of building a further series of test walls and a blast test program using the UOW blast simulator.
